The Appeal Courts have rejected the request filed by Areti Tsohatzopoulou for the suspension of her 12-year-imprisonment sentence, despite the support from Prosecutor Panagiotis Angelopoulos.

The prosecutor proposed the suspension of Mrs. Tsohatzopoulou’s sentence on “humanitarian” grounds, as she is the mother of three children, one of which will undergo surgery for a health issue.

Mrs. Tsohatzopoulou was initially been sentenced to12 years imprisonment over her participation in the controversial bribery and military armament scandal involving her father, former Minister of National Defense Akis Tsohatzopoulos. She has appealed the court ruling and a decision is expected on the 10th of October.

The daughter of the former National Defense Minister launched her latest appeal by citing the medical condition and surgery that one of her children must undergo.
