The police arrested a drunk truck driver after a pursuit on the Athens-Thessaloniki national highway on Saturday. The 46-year-old driver from Belarus illegally parked his truck on the national highway at Aeginio in Pieria, without taking any of the necessary precautions.
When asked to remove his vehicle from the area, he threatened the police officers who attempted to inspect his truck and drove off. The police pursued the truck driver and arrested him at the toll stations at Malgara, where they had set up a road block.
After arresting the 46-year-old driver, a breathalyzer test revealed that he was under the influence of alcohol. The man has also been charged with traffic violations, resistance arrest and carrying a weapon, as he was found to have a knife in his possession.
