The federations of the Police, Fire Brigade and Coast Guard have arranged a demonstration at Kolokotronis Square in down town Athens at 11am on Wednesday, in response to government plans regarding their pension funds.

In their common statement, the federations demand that the government abolishes the provisions in the upcoming bill regarding the lump sums they collect upon retirement and the proposed merger of their funds. They also complain that despite the “anomaly that was caused” by the government proposal, “some MPs continue to legislate frivolously”.

Additionally, the federations warn they will continue their struggle and call all uniformed officers, active or retired, to attend their demonstration.
