The Ministry of National Defense has announced that the navy frigate “Salamis” is on its way back to Piraeus, after successfully extracting Greek and foreign citizens from Tripoli in Libya.

The frigate was dispatched to the Libyan capital on Thursday, along with a Special Forces unit and helicopter support, in order to extract the Greek embassy employees as well as Greek and foreign citizens.

The “Salamis”, which is expected to arrive in Piraeus on Saturday morning, is carrying 186 people; 77 Greeks (including embassy staff), 12 Cypriots, 78 Chinese, 10 British, 7 Belgians, one Russian and one Albanian citizen.
