In an attempt to resolve the crisis caused by the dismissals and suspensions of administrative employees, the Ministry of Education appealed to the courts, in order to declare the strike as illegal and unfair.

Mr. Arvanitopoulos’ appeal will be examined at noon on Friday, with the Minister hoping that the universities will reopen and Monday and the academic semester will not go to waste. The hope is for teaching to resume on Monday the 11th of November.

In the meantime, the administrative employees of the University of Athens decided to extend their strike for the tenth consecutive week, but they will reconvene on Monday and assess their decision.

The teaching staff at the Technical University of Athens as well as the School of Philosophy and the School of Natural Sciences of the University of Athens have announced their intention to resume teaching on Monday.
