Even though Parliament hasn’t yet decided on suspending the parliamentary immunity of six Golden Dawn MPs, Supreme Court prosecutors have requested the immunity suspension of Eleni Zaroulia on weapons charges and Efstathios Boukouras for threatening and assaulting the mayor of Corinth.
The Supreme Court has requested the suspension of Zaroulia’s immunity because a bullet was confiscated from her when she was visiting her husband Golden Dawn leader Nikos Michaloliakos while being held at the Central Police HQ. If the suspension is granted, Zaroulia will face illegal firearm possession charges.
Meanwhile, the prosecutors requested the suspension of Efstathios Boukouras’ immunity (for the second time) in order to face charges of assault and battery. The Golden Dawn MP is accused of having attacked the Mayor of Corinth Alekos Pnevmatikos in the summer of 2012.
The Mayor reported that while he was coordinating Fire Brigade operations to tackle a huge fire that broke out in Corinth, he was isolated by the MP and a group of Golden Dawn supporters and then knocked down and assaulted. Prior to the attack, Mr. Pnevmatikos had accused Boukouras of assaulting immigrants.
