The Ministry of Infrastructure is rumored to be signing an agreement with a contactor in order to expedite and complete work on the Corinth-Patra motorway by the 31st of March 2017. To Vima has been told that the contract may even be signed by Friday.

The motorway has been plagued with major delays in the past eight years, with 76% of construction completed. The government wants to provide the necessary funding to complete the tunnels at Derveni in June, before tackling the 20-kilometer section between Ancient Corinth and Kiato.

According to the rumored agreement, the Corinth-Kiato section of the motorway may be operation by September 2016 and the Kiato-Xylokastro section by December of the same year.
