The Police announced that it has busted a gang of thieves who were known to torture their victims and who operated in many areas in Greece, such as Attica, Achaia, Evia and Korinthia.

So far seven Albanian nationals have been arrested, while two others who are believed to be a part of the gang have already been convicted and imprisoned for other crimes. The gang leader and his second in command are amongst those arrested.

According to the police report, a total of 13 thefts under investigation have been attributed to the gang. About 35,000 euros in cash and many valuables have been recovered so far, with the police estimating that the gang made over 250,000 from its illegal activities.

The gang was split into to two groups. The first group was tasked with breaking and entering homes of wealthy resident, while the second primarily operated in remote areas where policing is deemed problematic. During the break-ins, the gang members were known to assault their victims in order to hand over hidden cash and valuables.
