The price of heating oil in Greece has plunged and approximated the price it had before the introduction of the bailouts, due to the significant drop in the price of oil internationally.

Should there not be any surprises or significant changes in the dollar/euro exchange rate, then heating oil will be sold next month for about 80 to 85 cents per liter, the same as it cost in October 2010, before the special tax was increased.

As such, the price of heating oil will be about 20% lower than last year, when the average cost for a liter of heating oil was 1.05 euros. Consumers who apply for the heating oil benefit this year will see the cost even go down even further, despite the benefit being half this year.
