There are reportedly no refugees and migrants left on the island of Mytilene, which was at the forefront of this summer’s dramatic influx. Between Monday and Thursday a total of 29,260 people have left the island.

According to the Athens-Macedonia News Agency, the situation on the island has changed dramatically, as the large camps in public spaces are no longer, while municipal services are clearing up and restoring damages.

The transportation of refugees and migrants from the island to mainland Greece, from where many will then travel north towards central Europe, was made possible thanks to the efforts of the caretaker government. PM Vasiliki Thanou will visit the island on Sunday.
