The Dutch Minister of Finances and head of the Eurogroup Jeroen Dijsselbloem argued that the outcome of the vote in Athens on Friday morning was “a success”. Mr. Dijsselbloem, who has been a staunch critic of the Greek government, told the Dutch Parliament in writing that the list of prior actions approved in Athens was enough for the dispensation of financial aid.
Regarding the upcoming Eurogroup session at 4pm (Athens time) on Friday, Mr. Dijsselbloem noted in is letter that “is never the guarantee that it will be finalized without any changes” and that the Eurozone Finance Ministers are “going to judge the content, we’re going to discuss political trust because that is still an issue”.
According to the Dutch Finance Minister there are still some reservations as to whether the Greek government can implement what it has committed to, adding that “the political context in Athens is part of it. There is a much stronger and much more concrete package than we have ever agreed on with former Greek governments”.
