A fire broke out late on Wednesday evening on Lower Olympus, at an altitude of about 800 to 900 meters and is currently burning through grasslands.

The Fire Brigade has been struggling to tackle the fire, which is in a remote area, with five vehicles, about fifty firefighters, one helicopter and two water bombers. Local authorities are also rushing to support the fire fighters.

According to a Fire Brigade official it is very difficult to approach the fire, as the terrain has an 80-degree slope in certain areas.
