The Fire Brigade has set a forest fire that broke out in Agios Stefanos shortly after 11am under control. Due to the strong winds in the area, the fire was spreading towards Stamata.
At present there are 55 firefighters with 19 vehicles and volunteers in the area, while two aircraft and two helicopters assisted the Fire Brigade in its operation.
Local residents told journalists who arrived on the scene that the fire was likely caused by arsonists.
