The President of the Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos received Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras on Wednesday evening and was presented with the Greek government’s proposals for reliable reforms.

The Prime Minister explained that an honest compromise and sustainable solution necessitates reliable reforms on the one hand and clear commitments for adequate funding and debt relief. Mr. Tsipras stressed that securing funding and a reduction of the debt is the government’s goals.

The President on his behalf commented that it was essential to clarify that the people’s verdict in Sunday’s referendum was not a rift with Europe, but rather a call to resume negotiations, with the ultimate goal being to secure Greece’s firm position in Europe and the Eurozone.
