The banks and stock exchange in Greece are going to remain closed until Monday, the 13th of July, according to a Ministry of Finances decree and announcement by the Hellenic Capital Market Commission (HCMC).

The ministerial decree maintains the 60-euro cap on withdrawals from ATMs while offering pensioners without a bank card the opportunity to withdraw a further 120 euros for a week.

The decree will also allow pensioners living overseas and unemployed to drawn 120 euros from their pensions and benefits respectively. Additionally, the decree sets a 1,000-euro limit on the cash that a Greek citizen can take when traveling abroad.

While liquidity towards Greek banks has not increased, the chief of the European Central Bank Mario Draghi has offered assurances that the banks will be supported at least until Sunday, when a critical European Summit is to take place.

According to the statement issued by the HCMC, due to the bank holiday, it has extended its previous decision until the 13th of July.
