The Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stated that Greece wants a financially sustainable solution that rules out a possible ‘Grexit’, following the conclusion of Tuesday evening’s Eurozone Summit in Brussels.
Mr. Tsipras vowed to expedite the process so it concludes by the end of the week and noted that the Greek government presented its positions, as they were determined in the recent council meeting of political leaders.
The aim, according to the Greek Prime Minister, is to secure a financially sustainable and fair agreement that will include reliable and socially just reforms. In exchange Greece asks for a bridge program to cover immediate funding needs, a growth package to address the major problems, as well as to begin talks on the necessary debt restructure.
The PM underlined that he is aiming for an agreement that will avoid a Grexit and provide prospects of exiting the crisis. Mr. Tsipras also stated that he was pleased how the other European leaders recognized that the problem is European, rather than Greek.
