The European Commissioner for Digital Economy and Society Günther Oettinger has stated that the Greek government still has the opportunity to accept the offer to remain in the Eurozone, but argued that there will not be a renegotiation.

Mr. Oettinger, who gave an interview to German newspaper Handelsblatt on the latest developments, underlined that while the offer is still on the table, if an agreement is not reached it “will not be the end of the world”. He further explained that if a country where to leave the Eurozone, it would be possible to return within a decade.

Furthermore, the European Commissioner commented that the European Union would take measures in order to avert a possible humanitarian crisis in Greece, which he estimated may be necessary after Wednesday.
