The police suspect that terrorists may have been involved in a bank robbery that was carried out in Thursday morning at the branch of a bank in the Sotiria hospital in Holargos.

According to the police report, a woman disguised with a blonde wig and sunglasses held up the bank and took off with 125,000 euros. The female bank robber appeared calm and waited 15 minutes until the bank vault was opened and reassured the bank customers. A burned out car was later discovered in Papagou, which had been stolen a few hours earlier in Gyzi.

A similar bank robbery was carried out in Penteli earlier in May 2015, with a woman taking off with 5,000 euros. Although CCTV footage from the banks indicates that the two robbers may be different, their movements suggest otherwise. Given that inmates from the Korydallos prisons are often hospitalized at the Sotiria, the police is examining the possibility of the robbery being planned by accomplices.
