The President of Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos underlined his confidence on Greece’s future in the Eurozone and Europe, in a meeting with the Administrative Committee of the Central Union of Hellenic Chambers (KEEE) on Monday. Mr. Pavlopoulos also called for the country’s political forces to stand united during these trying times, noting that “we are struggling for an agreement that will meet the principles of Europe and Greece’s perspectives”.

Additionally, the President argued that “irrespective of the existing political differences amongst the political forces, I am convinced that at this time everyone will have to rise to the circumstances to achieve this common goal, since Greeks know well, especially in recent years, that we solve together all the major and important issues”.

Earlier, the President commented that the Central Union of Chambers expresses the common ground between the chambers, as well as the agony that dominates the markets. He underlined that the State must support the chamber, in order to create the conditions that will allow them to demonstrate what they can do and their capabilities.

After thanking the President for his support, the KEEE president Konstantinos Michalos, estimated that a rupture with the creditors would be catastrophic and as such an agreement is the only option. However, he pointed out that both the taxpayer and businesses are in no position to pay any additional taxes.
