The meeting between Greek and German Ministers of Finances, Yanis Varoufakis and Wolfgang Schäuble, which was scheduled for Monday morning in the German capital, has concluded.
On his way out of the meeting, the Greek Finance Minister commented that the talks were carried in a very friendly and productive climate, adding that they were very useful.
When asked whether any concessions were made, as disagreements on key issues have so far stalled the efforts, Mr. Varoufakis told journalists that he did not negotiate with Mr. Schäuble. The German Ministry also clarified that there would not be a press conference after the meeting.
The meeting between Mr. Varoufakis and Mr. Schäuble came two days before the critical, top-level meeting between Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Francois Hollande in Brussels.
On Sunday, the White House confirmed that US President Barack Obama and Mrs. Merkel discussed Greece on the sidelines of the G7 talks in Dresden. Mr. Obama was reportedly confident that Greece and its partners would come to an agreement without causing further instability to the international markets.
