The Panhellenic Pharmaceutical Association (PFS) has announced a nationwide 24-hour strike for Wednesday the 10th of June, in response to the deregulation on the sale of non-prescription medication.

According to the statement issued by the pharmacist association, the deregulation – which has been debated for the past five years – will not benefit customers, as the deregulation will cause prices to swell.

Furthermore, the pharmacists claim that with a network of about 9,800 pharmacies in Greece, there is no real need to deregulate the sale of non-prescription medication.

The PFS has organized a general meeting with representatives from all over Greece on Saturday, the 13th of June, in order to debate the possibility of further escalating actions.
