A bill containing a series of significant amendments in the Greek Citizenship Code has been submitted in Parliament. The new bill sets the terms and conditions for the acquisition of Greek citizenship.

The new bill provides Greek citizenship to the children of migrants that are born in Greece, provided they enroll and study in Greek schools and their parents legally reside in Greece for a set amount of time.

Citizenship may also be provided to underage migrants who are residing permanently and legally in Greece and have completed nine years of education (six years in secondary education). Migrants residing legally in Greece who have graduated from Greek universities and high schools may also receive citizenship.
