The Alternate Minister of Infrastructure, Transport and Networks Christos Spirtzis has announced that plans to provide the unemployed in Athens with free access to public transport will come into effect by the summer.

Mr. Sprintzis told journalists that his Ministry is currently examining all relevant parameters on the subject, so that the measure can come into effect as soon as possible.

The initiative to provide the long-term unemployed with free access to public transport was part of SYRIZA’s election campaign promises.
