The German Minister of Finances Wolfgang Schäuble claimed that the decision to extend the Greek loan agreement for four months was no an easy decision for his Eurozone colleagues and that there are serious doubts regarding Athens’ resolve in carrying out the reforms promised.

Mr. Schäuble commented on German radio station SWR2 that “it was not an easy decision for us or the Greek government, as it had promised its people something entirely different in its election campaign”.

According to the German Finance Minister, the question now is whether the Greek government will uphold its promises, while noting that “there are doubts in Germany that must be made clear”.

Nevertheless, he urged German MPs to approve the extension of the Greek loan agreement when it will be tabled in the German parliament for discussion and vote.
