SYRIZA’s political secretariat convened electronically in order to decide whether to support plans for the construction of a stadium for AEK F.C. in Nea Philadelphia.
The decision not to support the stadium construction plans was down to one vote; eleven SYRIZA officers voting against the plans and ten being in favor. Specifically, the Left Platform, Anasa and Communist Organization of Greece (KOE) factions within SYRIZA disagreed with the stadium’s construction.
Meanwhile local residents, bodies and groups in Nea Philadelphia have planned a rally at 7pm in order to demonstrate against the brutal attack performed by AEK fans against a local community center on the 20th of June. The assault has been attributed to the resistance against the stadium’s construction plans.
