Stathis Boukouras, the MP who was recently expelled from Golden Dawn, has responded to the criticism against him by his former party and claimed that “Golden Dawn owes me, I owe them nothing”, arguing that he acted “manlier” than any of his fellow comrades.

The MP, who is being investigated for his participation in the neo-Nazi party’s criminal activities, explained that “I disagreed with Golden Dawn for some time and discussed the possibility of leaving with [my lawyer] Mr. Kougias. My lawyer convinced me to stay because, as he told me, it would be unfair to put the other defendants in an awkward position, by creating impressions with my departure”.

Boukouras also expressed his dismay at the comments made by his former comrades “who cry and shout about their patriotism and manliness” which he “never expected” and argued that he had been “manly” about his departure.

Shortly after Boukouras confirmed the rumors regarding his departure from Golden Dawn, the extremist party demanded that he hands returned his parliamentary sear “to the Greek people”. Boukouras’ expulsion from the party came as he announced his intention to abstain from the special hearing process taking place at the Korydallos prison, where the majority of detained Golden Dawn MPs are being held.
