The trial of six men who were arrested in relation to a double armed robbery in Velvento near Kozani and are accused of participating in the leftist militant group Conspiracy of Fire Cells (Synomosia Pyrinon tis Fotias – SPF) has begun at the Korydallos prison, where they are being held.

Two of the defendants, Yannis Michailidis and Nikos Romanos, stated their opposition to the State and identified themselves as “anarchists” and “urban guerillas” before lashing out against the members of the court. The defendants argued that they are not interested in the outcome of the trial, since they believe “judges judge according to the food that is prepared for them at home”. The courts appointed an attorney to Michailidis, since he appeared without an attorney to show that he does not recognize the judicial process.

Along with Michailidis and Romanos on trial are Andreas Bourzoukos, Anargyros Dalios, Dimitris Politis and Foivos Harisis Poulos. The parents of the six defendants were also present at the trial, including Romanos’ mother, author Paullina Nasioutzik. The requests for postponements are going to be heard today and the trial is likely to being on the 12th of December.
