The leader of SYRIZA Alexis Tsipras has arranged to visit the facilities of the Greek Defense Systems group on Imittos, which includes the EAS, EVO and PYRKAL companies.
Mr. Tsipras will meet with unions and employees at the company’s facilities, are considered to be amongst the group’s greatest assets.
According to the Left Platform, the government’s plan is to cease operations at the Imittos and Elefsina sites, so that the valuable land can be developed and passed on to TAIPED for sale.
The facilities in Imittos are estimated to cover 700 acres, while in Elefsina the development plans also include expanding the port, for which SYRIZA estimates an “under the table” deal has been signed.
The estimated value of EAS’s real estate and assets in Imittos and Elefsina is 325 million euros, according to opposition.
