PASOK leader Evangelos Venizelos is working towards a party overhaul. On Thursday Mr. Venizelos had lunch with A. Papadopoulos and friends at the Hilton, where the former minister expressed his worries about PASOK and the country’s future.
This was the first time in a while that the two men met, but few believe Mr. Papadopoulos will get involved again with politics. Sources suggest that Mr. Papadopoulos told Mr. Venizelos that PASOK can be instrumental in a resurgence of the center left.
Following the upcoming party conference, PASOK has organized a number of events about health, the role of women “in the conference and society”, the constitutional review and violence in Greece. Those events can be the perfect background to host meetings with other divs; former Minister of Justice Miltiadis Papaioannou will be a speaker at the constitutional review, for example.
One outstanding issue though is the status of party members ousted from the parliamentary group (K. Skandalidis, A. Gerekou, I. Koutsoukos and M. Kassis), as most of them can participate in conference procedure through their local organizations.
