After DEI’s initial plans to build a solar power park in Megalopoli fell though, a competition to take over the project has been announced. The original plan fell through, because J&P ΑVAX, who won the competition in December 2011, could not secure the necessary funds.
Three competitions have been announced: one for the supply of equipment, one for the construction of the park itself and a third one for the construction of two substations. When complete, the 2,000-acre solar power park of Megalopoli will be one of the biggest in Europe. The park will produce about 70 million kWh of energy annually, enough to cover 20% of household needs in Arcadia.
