The ENFIA amendment may have finally gone through in Parliament – after the coalition government had to replace 9 MPs in order to avoid a ‘rebellion’ – however the controversy continues.

Following New Democracy spokesman Adonis Georgiadis’ criticism against the Minister of Finances Gikas Hardouvelis, Athens councilor Thanos Plevris appeared on ANT1 to comment on the subject.

Mr. Plevris argued that “it is inconceivable for a Minister to say ‘I agree’ or ‘I disagree’ with the ENFIA, nor can he say ‘I did not propose it’”. Mr. Plevris also accused the coalition government MPs who reacted to the ENFIA, accusing them of cowardice.

The former LAOS officer is expected to assume Dimitris Avramopoulos’ seat in Parliament, who in turn is scheduled to assume the post of European Commissioner of Migration.
