The Mayor of Ilion Nikos Zenetos has approved ministerial plans to establish a hot spot in the suburb of Athens.

According to Mr. Zenetos, the Ministry of Migration Policy asked for some space at that municipal sports center, in order to set up 100 8-person tents, an infirmary, storage facilities and rest rooms.

Although the area has been requested to be used for about a month, Mr. Zenetos estimated that the land will be used as a hot spot for longer.

Mr. Zenetos explained that the municipality has granted access to 13 acres of land of that purpose and noted that municipal authorities would also provide child psychologists and social workers.

Armed Forces are currently clearing up and setting up a fence in the area, with the new installation expected to operate by early next week.
