The Manpower Employment Organization OAED has announced hat it had 832,618 people registered as unemployed in September, with 111,072 of them receiving a subsidy. Of the 832,618 registered as unemployed 448,941 (53.92%) have been registered with OAED as such for at least 12 months, while 383,677 (46.08%) for less than a year.

Unemployment has affected women harder than men, with 507,413 of those registered being women (60.94%) and 325,205 men (39.06%). The age group mostly affected by unemployment are those aged 30-44 with 336,256 (40.9%), compared to the over 60s (7,470 – 0.9%) and those aged 15-19 (12,121 – 1.46%).

The vast majority of those registered with OAED are Greek citizens (786,705 – 94.49%), compared to 10,666 (1.28%) registered EU nationals and 35,247 (4.23%) from third countries. The report also shows that of the 111,072 people who receive subsidies 2,181 (1.96%) are from the seasonal tourist sector.
