A grandmother and her 5-year-old grandchild were nearly burned alive, when a fire broke out in their home in Kordelio near Thessaloniki, at about 4:15 on Thursday morning.
The fire brigade arrived on time and managed to save the grandmother and her 5-year-old grand child, who were later taken to the hospital for breathing problems.
The preliminary report suggests that the family was using candles, as the electricity supply had been cut off. The fire appears to have caused extensive, irreparable damages to the house.
