The trial of Makis Psomiadis who faces charges of fixing football matches has been delayed once again, this time thanks to a bomb scare phone call. The trial was interrupted around 11:40am and is scheduled to resume at 9am on Monday. Celebrity lawyer and owner of Panachaiki FC Alexis Kougias will testify as a witness next week.

Psomiadis, who used to own AEK F.C. and later Kavala F.C. is accused of fixing football matches. His defense team objected to the trial including certain misdemeanors; however the court rejected the motion and stated that Mr. Psomiadis would be tried for the misdemeanors and felonies.

So far in the trial, the first witness OPAP executive Giorgos Iliopoulos stated that the betting company had cancelled bets on a number of games that it considered to be of little interest and non competitive.

He noted however that in the case of Agrotikos Asteras v Kavala (0-3), OPAP cancelled bets since excessive bets were made and it considered the game to be fixed. UEFA also considered the game to be suspicious. In the Kavala v Agrotikos Asteras (4-1) game, betting was considered normal and thus allowed.
