The family of 19-year-old Thanasis Kanaoutis who died last week during a ticket inspection has decided to press charges against the conductor and trolley driver for homicide with possible malice.

The Kanaoutis family decided to press charges after the medical examiner reports regarding the circumstances of Kanaoutis’ death became public. The father of the victim maintains that his son did not jump out of the trolley, but was pushed.

According to the report of medical examiners Dilernias and Marianou, the conductor grabbed Kanaoutis from the arm and neck. Some witness reports suggest that the conductor did not intend to cause the 19-year-old any harm.

The victim also had multiple abrasions on his shoulders, as a result of falling and being dragged on the asphalt while the trolley was coming to a halt. The medical examiners were unable to ascertain if Kanaoutis had been pushed.
