The good weather is proving to be an important “ally” in the mass exodus of citizens leaving the cities for the country side for the Easter vacations.

Compared to last year, the traffic at the port of Piraeus is increased by 25%, with the most popular destinations being Kyklades, Samos and Ikaria. The good weather means that there will be mild winds in the Aegean and Ionian seas.

The national highways are also busy, so the Police have implemented a series of emergency measures for the Easter holidays. Due to the volume of passengers, the KTEL bus services have increased their routes. Trucks are not allowed on the exit routes of the national highways between 6am and 4pm on Friday.

Those traveling by train and suburban rail will experience some delays. OSE and Suburban Rail employees will walk out at 6pm until the end of the shift, followed by a 24-hour strike on Easter Sunday and a walkout on the following Monday from midnight to noon.
