According to official estimates, about 4,700 refugees are currently stranded in the port of Piraeus, after a further 260 arrived on Wednesday morning from islands in the eastern Aegean.

Due to the huge number of people, the Armed Forces will also distribute food, while the management of the Piraeus Port Authority (OLP) has increased the water supply.

The Ariadne ferry boat brought 241 refugees from Lesvos and 9 from Chios, while the Blue Star 2 transferred 10 refugees from Rhodes, Kos and Karpathos. Eight buses are currently at the port, waiting o transfer refugees to the temporary hospitality center that has been set up in Pieria.
