The prosecution is in favor of the release of Areti Tsohatzopoulou [pictured] in relation to the prison sentence she received for her participation in the high profile bribery scandal involving military supplies.

The court proposed Mrs. Tsohatzopoulou’s release, daughter of the disgraced and imprisoned former Minister of National Defense Akis Tsohatzopoulos, as she has served a large part of her sentence and returned contested real estate assets to the State. The court also took into consideration that her youngest child faces a serious medical condition.

On the contrary, the courts decided against the early release of Mr. Tsohatzopoulos’ wife, Vicky Stamati, who has also been convicted in the scandal. The prosecution argued that the serious psychological problems Mrs. Stamati has cited will be better addressed at the Dromokaitio Psychiatric Hospital, where she has been held for the past few months.
