The joint discussion of the Production & Trade and Finance committees in Parliament today on the bill that was meant to include provisions for the primary residence auctions and the reduced VAT in food and restaurants has resumed, after the Minister of Finances Stournaras agreed to remove a number of irrelevant provisions from the bill.

The discussion had been interrupted after many MPs complained at the inclusion of such articles in the bill, which is being processed urgently. Many members from both committees accused the government of scheming, trivializing the democratic regime and for disrespecting MPs in their attempt to pass a number of questionable and irrelevant articles, by abusing the emergency procedures.

The Minister of Finances announced that a number of provisions related to TAIPED, banks and the General Secretariat of Revenue have been removed and will be included in another bill in January. Other irrelevant articles originally included in the bill made provisions for huge fines over outstanding debt towards the State.
