After Sunday’s critical vote of confidence in Parliament, the coalition government’s parliamentary majority dropped to 154 MPs following the expulsion of Theodora Tzakri from PASOK, while other MPs have hinted that they do not intend to support the new real estate tax and the lift on primary residence bans.

New Democracy MP Dora Bakoyanni was invited by RealFM to comment on the recent developments and urged Prime Minister Samaras to ask DIMAR to rejoin the coalition government. Mrs. Bakoyanni explained that since SYRIZA does not have “an alternative and reliable governing plan”, the Prime Minister must make necessary “political moves” to ensure the implementation of current plans.

The New Democracy MP explained that the coalition government needs a far greater majority in parliament, in which could be ensured for the next two years if DIMAR were to return to the coalition. Mrs. Bakoyanni dubbed Mr. Kouvelis’ party as “the responsible Left” and urged the Prime Minister to pose the subject.

DIMAR originally left the coalition government in later June after it was unable to come to an acceptable agreement with New Democracy and PASOK over the emergent ERT situation.
