The leader of the main opposition Kyriakos Mitsotakis has arranged to meet with the President of PASOK Fofi Gennimata and the Secretary General of the Communist Party Dimitris Koutsoumpas, at 12:00 and 13:00 respectively.

Although New Democracy and PASOK had recently formed a coalition government, recent statements and actions by Mrs. Gennimata regarding the main opposition party suggest that there will be tension at Friday’s meeting.

As such, the New Democracy leader will conclude his meetings with the other political leaders, since he has ruled out meeting with the president of the Independent Greeks Panagiotis Kammenos, the president of the Union of Centrists Vasilis Leventis and the leader of neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn Nikos Michaloliakos.

The newly-elected party leader began his meetings on Tuesday by visiting Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras at his office and on Wednesday he was received by the President of the Hellenic Republic Prokopis Pavlopoulos.

Mr. MItsotakis later met with the head of the River Stavros Theodorakis, where they both agreed on the importance of carrying out the necessary reforms. Although there have been calls for an alliance between New Democracy and the River, the main opposition leader remains reserved.
