The Greek statistics authority ELSTAT has published its latest divs on the seasonally adjusted unemployment rate for September 2015, which show that the rate dropped to 24.6%, from 26.1% in September 2014 and 24.7% in August 2015. The number of employed amounted to 3,626,696 persons, while the number of unemployed 1,184,353 and the number of inactive to 3,266,304.
According to ELSTAT’s divs the number of employed also increased by 75,861 persons, compared to September 2014 (+2.1%) and by 6,821 persons compared to August 2015 (+0.2%). The unemployed decreased by 68,806 persons (-5.5%) compared to September 2014 and by 2,429 persons compared to August 2015 (-0.2%).
Finally, the number of inactive persons – those who have neither worked nor are looking for a job – decreased by 53,466 (-1.6%) compared with September 2014 and by 7,919 persons compared to August 2015 (-0.2%).
