Two large groups of refugees in Idomeni waiting to cross over to FYROM to continue their journeys have clashed amongst themselves on Thursday morning.

At present, the authorities of FYROM have decided to only allow refugees from Syria, Afghanistan and Pakistan to cross other, with refugees from other countries being stranded. According to reports a group of refugees stranded on the Greek side blocked off access to the border crossing, preventing the other refugees from carrying on their journeys. Fights are reported to have broken out.

With the tension rising in Idomeni, as about 3,000 refugees are in the area waiting to cross over, a train is expected to arrive to take any refugees to Thessaloniki and Athens.

On Wednesday a group of refugees attempted to cross over into FYROM from a point on the border where the fence has not yet been raised and clashed with the police. In an amateur video it appears that on of the police officers is brandishing his firearm. Reports also suggest that rubber bullets were fired and some refugees were injured in the clashes. The group is said to have failed to cross over.
