The split personality of members and officers of the governing party tends to extend beyond all political or even psychoanalytical approach. The nationwide strike on Thursday is being carried out, as decided by union organizations, so that employees may demonstrate against “the government which has denied its election campaign pledges and is continuing with the policies of punishing austerity, poverty and destitution, by implementing a new, harsh bailout with oppressive terms”.
However, the labor policy department of SYRIZA is also calling employees to join the protest, because “the struggles against the anti-popular, extreme neo-liberal policies continue even more dynamically”. This is political madness in all of its glory… If we are not mistaken these policies are implemented by a government comprised of top officers from the party they are currently denouncing.
The same, frequently performed scenario that it is not the government that decides, but rather foreign and domestic interests that are blackmailing it to follow this policy. In other words, according to SYRIZA officers, the Prime Minister and his Ministers are acting in accordance with the blackmail.
Someone ought to remind the officers of the governing party that the political madness leads to ridicule; that the government will either serve the national interest, as the Prime Minister claims by implementing the agreement with the Europeans, or it will inevitably and indecisively give in to all sorts of blackmailers.
These absurdities, to support the government while denouncing its policies lead nowhere other than to the trivialization of politics and politicians. It is high time that SYRIZA and its officers made a decision: either govern and assume the cost of their choices or remain a protest party…
