The spokesman for the German government Steffen Seibert has commented that at present the conditions for the resumption of talks with Greek authorities are not in place. However, he added, Greece is a member of the Eurozone and as such, it must provide new proposals.
When asked about the resignation of Yanis Varoufakis, he noted that it was never ‘a matter of people’, but avoided further elaborating. In his resignation Mr. Varoufakis alleged that a number of his European colleagues “preferred” that he did not attend meetings.
