A critical bill which aims to address the escalation of violence in sports will be voted upon in Parliament today, between 14:30 and 15:00, with the Deputy Minister of Sports Stavros Kontonis [pictured] announcing that last minute changes may be introduced.

The additions may come after consultation with FIFA and UEFA, as the governing football bodies have threatened to expel Greek national teams and domestic clubs from its competition over bill provisions which limit the Hellenic Football Federation’s autonomy.

The prospect of the expulsion caused a minor crisis within the government coalition, with junior partners Independent Greeks opposing the bill, unless it complies with FIFA and UEFA’s line.
