A forest fire that broke out on Tuesday in the Tsingi area on Samos has been set under control by the Fire Brigade after the blaze destroyed about 2,000 acres of forest and agricultural land.

The Fire Brigade dispatched 25 firefighters and ten vehicles, with a further 10 municipal vehicles, members of the local rescue team and 25 volunteer groups assisting their efforts.

Additional support came from the Special Disaster Response Unit (EMAK) and two aircraft from Elefsina, which unfortunately were only able to assist in a limited capacity due to the strong winds in the area.
