Veteran New Democracy MP Dora Bakoyanni repeated her call for a leadership change in the party, only a few days after Antonis Samaras accused such calls as introverted and against the party’s principles.

Mrs. Bakoyanni told Mega Channel that Greece “needs a European center right; to be strong, collective and democratic” and stressed that “some of us will do everything that is humanly possible” to achieve this goal. She underlined that her party suffered a major defeat in January’s elections and that it had the obligation to self-reflect.

In her interview she was critical of the SYRIZA-led government and called Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to “personally take a very big decision” regarding the negotiations with Greece’s creditors and partners. Mrs. Bakoyanni estimated that the PM will either work towards an agreement, which will not be political, or he will lead the country to catastrophe.

When asked about the possibility of austerity measures, Mrs. Bakoyanni asserted that at present the supplementary pension funds are not sustainable and as such supplementary pensions must be reduced.
