The government Vice President Evangelos Venizelos traveled to Berlin on Wednesday afternoon and met with the Minister of Finances Wolfgang Schäuble for about half hour.

The German Finance Minister is said to have reassured Mr. Venizelos that Greece will receive the much-discussed precautionary credit line, provided it successfully completes the troika review, which will signal the end of the European side of the bailout program.

The two sides agreed to continue negotiations with the troika as usual, without taking a break for the upcoming Presidential elections at the end of December, in order to allow time to negotiate with the IMF and begin talks on the possibilities of debt relief.

Sources suggest that the program that will accompany the new credit line will be more or less the sort that is currently being discussed and is not expected to contain any additional terms.

Mr. Venizelos reportedly believes that Greece’s major problem is the political risk, as evident by the market reactions to the official announcement of the Presidential elections.
